Photography is an increasingly popular subject choice for many Sky Learners. In a recent competition, one of our students even succeeded in winning a national award for one of his pictures! Nowadays, photographic images are an integral and highly influential feature of modern life. In learning how to pay attention to their immediate environment through photography, and to look at the everyday world in different ways, our young photographers develop an awareness of the way context affects our understanding of images.

Of course, digital photography also requires competence in a number of key areas of Information Technology, so our students learn to handle, save, store and manipulate images, as well as to take good photographs. These are important practical skills for them to carry into adult life alongside an increased awareness of photographic images and the way in which they are constructed.

Sky Learners work within the AQA Unit Awards Scheme and for those that are able we offer progression into AQA GCSE Photography.
