We are immensely proud of the Art department at Sky College. Art is a popular subject and our students make good progress.
We offer a varied and interesting curriculum at Key Stage 3 which allows our students to explore a large variety of materials and media whilst studying the work of different Artists and Movements. Our main focus is to develop students' skills, knowledge and understanding in preparation for undertaking qualifications at Key Stage 4.
Currently we offer both short and full course GCSE Fine Art. By doing so we are able to meet the needs and abilities of all our students. Last year two thirds of students undertaking GCSE Art achieved grades A or B. In addition, this year we are introducing the Arts Award qualification.
Moving forwards, we are delighted to be developing Ceramics at Sky College with the addition of a kiln and potter's wheel. We envisage producing crockery, sculptures and ornaments which can be taken home, sold to raise funds or else decorate our upcoming school therapy garden.
There are also plans to develop Art Therapy at Sky College in order to further support the growth and development of our students.
